Dump dump goose-- 2010
The dumps became the dumps sometime in 2011 after I heard a teacher call Brainstorming “ideadumping.” Before that, I just sent out links to things that I had read.
Here are some of the links from 2010.
It’s days like today that we all need a little advice on how to cope with bad news and bad days:
2. Did you know how the internet works? This one is particularly interesting in light of the fact that YouTube and Netflix have both agreed to slow the speeds at which we stream to account for all the traffic in recent days. Additionally it looks like there has been little improvement in this area since 2010 when I first posted the story.
3. So long wrist watch. Written before the advent of the iWatch, this story in the Atlantic talks about how kids in the graduating class of 2014 don’t know how to tell time. I can confirm, having spent a lot of time around people born after 9/11 that they have no idea how to tell time.
4. Books we all interpreted the wrong way. I find this interesting because since I posted this, I became an English teacher and spend a lot of time debating with students about what books are about and whether or not it matters. The part about Bradbury and 451 is interesting.
